Peter has had a long interest in portable operating, initially focussed on VHF, UHF and microwave weak signal communications. Peter became interested in Parks operations in 2010 following the revitalisation of the Keith Roget Memorial National Parks Award. This led on to participation in SOTA and then VKFF.

Why involved in VKFF:
Having always enjoyed being in the outdoors, combining amateur radio activities with being out in the field was an obvious step. Fresh air, the sound of wind in the trees and birds, perhaps a babbling stream… enjoyable and mind cleansing! Add the benefit of (usually) low RF noise conditions, the combination makes field operations a simple choice!
