Park to Park (P2P) Award

In January 2016, the long awaited global Park to Park (P2P) Award was officially released in the World Wide Flora Fauna program.

The first P2P award certificate was issued to Andrew M0YMA.

The WWFF P2P certificates are issued to park activators who operate portable from a WWFF reference area, and who make contact with other park activators in a WWFF reference area.

The first P2P certificate is issued for 10 Park to Park contacts and is next issued for 44 P2P contacts, then 88 P2P contacts, etc.  These are incremental steps of 44, until your reach the P2P 444 certificate.  After this P2P certificates are issued in incremental steps of 100.

The P2P award certificates are applied for on-line via WWFF Logsearch.

Some tips for filling out your log for the Park to Park Award

Please note, that P2P contacts need to be recorded in your activator log, which in turn must be uploaded to WWFF Log Search.

It is very important that accurate P2P information is recorded in either the ADIF file or the CSV file that you provide for upload.
A recurring question is: How are P2P contacts confirmed.

It’s quite simple…

Both logs must be uploaded – we will call them Log A and Log B

A number of fields must match…

Callsigns:

The STATION call of Log A must match the HUNTER call of Log B

The STATION call of Log B must match the HUNTER call of Log A

Note: Callsigns are compared after stripping all prefixes and suffixes

References:

The HUNTER REFERENCE in Log A must match the ACTIVATOR REFERENCE in Log B

The HUNTER REFERENCE in Log B must match the ACTIVATOR REFERENCE in Log A, or be empty

Note: Thus only one log needs to claim the P2P for BOTH to be confirmed (if there is a match)

The BAND, MODE and DATE of both Logs must match

The TIME field is only used as a tie-breaker:

If there is only one matching QSO, then it is confirmed without further ado.

If there is more than one matching QSO, then TIME must match (± 5 minutes).

Are you using Fast Log Entry (FLE) ?

If you are using Fast Log Entry (FLE), you need to place the VKFF reference worked into the log data field.  Use the keyword of WWFF, and then record the approproate VKFF reference number.

Once you convert the information over to the data field, the Park to Park contact should show up in the column titled ‘His WWFF Ref.

Are you using the CSV template ?

If you are using the CSV template, please ensure when completing that you complete the ‘hunterRef’ column (see below).  Remember to use the correct format, e.g. VKFF-0029.  Many people are leaving out the hyphen in the reference.

What if you don't use FLE or the CSV template?

ADIF files require the WWFF reference in the SIG/SIG_INFO fields, or the appropriate column in the CSV template.

The ADIF file needs to be correctly completed.

MY_SIG = WWFF
MY_SIG_INFO = your xxFF-xxx

If you work someone Park To Park, in addition the following needs to be in the ADIF file…..

SIG = WWFF
SIG_INFO = their xxFF-xxxx

If your ADIF specs do not pick up the other activators P2P details, then you need to edit your ADIF file manually.  This is easy, through a text editor.  I use a Mac, and use textedit.  Simply add the following information for each applicable P2P contact (before the EOR).

<SIG:4>WWFF <SIG_INFO:8>xxFF-xxx         –where reference is three digits
 <SIG:4>WWFF <SIG_INFO:9>xxFF-xxxx        –where reference is four digits

**Remember, that VKFF references are four (4) digits, so you need to use
…..

<SIG:4>WWFF <SIG_INFO:9>xxFF-xxxx

How to track your P2P progress

To see your Park to Park progress, conduct a search on your callsign in WWFF Logsearch.  This will bring up your Summary Statistics page.  It is from here that you will be able to see your progress with regards to the P2P award, and also apply for the P2P award.
Picture
In the 'Activated' column and the Park to Park section, you will also see 2 figures, e.g. 433/553 (as per above screen shot).  What does this mean?

The second figure, e.g. 553, indicates the number of Park to Park contacts you have made.  The first figure indicates the number of those Park to Park contacts which have been confirmed in Log Search.

In this case (as per the screen shot below), a total of 553 Park to Park contacts have been made, but only 433 of those are confirmed.

How to apply for a P2P certificate

From your Summary Statistics page, simply click on 'Apply for P2P-A'
Picture
You will then receive an auto generated email from Logsearch, thanking you for applying for the P2P award.

Soon after, you should another auto generated email from WWFF Log Search, advising that the Award Manager has approved your P2P award (lets hope its not a disapprove email).

And then you will receive your P2P certificate from the P2P Awards Manager.

Park to Park errors

Picture
To see whether your Park to Park contacts are valid, click on your Hunter stats and get up you Hunter QSO list.  All Park to Park contacts are recorded in the P2P ref column.  The 'Valid' column will either dsiplay a green tick of an exclamation mark.  If there is an exclamation mark, there is some form of error in that particular Park to Park contact.

Picture
If you discover the error, you can place a post in the Log Corrections area in the Forum on the global WWFF website.

Is the P2P award retospective?

Yes, it is.  Valid P2P contacts do not have to be from the release date.  They can be historical.

Do you need to get 44 contacts during the activation for the Park to Park contact/s to count?

No that is incorrect

A P2P will confirm even if it is the only QSO of the activation

How do I back-capture old P2P contacts?

Andrew M0MYA is working on a mechanism to allow existing logs to be uploaded for P2P info.  This will allow for updating restrospective P2P contacts, and will probably be via a CSV file.
In the mean time, how do you add P2P information for your existing logs?

1.  Go to Logsearch and run your search (with Hunter selected).
2.  Then select QSOs.
3.  Then click on Download-this will create and download a CSV file names logsearch.csv.
4.  Edit the file, to add any P2P information in the HunterRef column
5.  Email the revised log to Andrew M0YMA at wwff_log_corrections@wwff.co
