What is a CSV file?

A CSV is a comma separated values file, which allows data to be saved in a table structured format. CSVs look like a garden-variety spreadsheet but with a .csv extension (Traditionally they take the form of a text filecontaining information separated by commas, hence the name).

Required CSV format for activator logs

WWFF CSV file template

A CSV template can be downloaded below.

Please do not use any old spreadsheet.  The CSV template must be used.

Please follow the instructions for use....

  1. Remove the example QSO
  2. Do NOT edit the greyed boxes
  3. Add each QSO on a separate line...insert new rows ABOVE the EOF row as required
  4. Ensure each QSO ends with the EOR marker
  5. Delete the instruction block
  6. Save file in CSV format using filename style: CALLSIGN@REFERENCE YYYYMMDD, e.g. VK5ABC@VKFF-00120150609
  7. Email the CSV file to the relevant State/Territory Coordinator

Some tips when using the CSV template

Please note that the Operator call column should be completed if the operator call is different to the station call used for the activation.  An example of this is if you use a club callsign.  Place the club call sign in the 'stationcall' column and your own personal call in the 'operator call' column.

Do not place your name in this column.  It is only to be used if the operator call was different to the station call.

Please ensure that you use the correct date format....YYYYMMDD.  Other formats such as 01-01-2015 are not acceptable.

Please do not use dashed or colons in times, e.g 12:34 or 12-34.  The time need to be recorded as 1234.

Time needs to be in UTC.  Do not use local time.

Please only record the band in the qsoBand column, e.g. 40m.  Do not use 7.090, etc.

A new version of the CSV file template was released on 28th September 2015,, which includes the hunter reference field.  Please record the WWFF reference area in that 'hunterRef' column if you had a park to park contact.
